A Senator that Steal from Blogger (Belittle on Blogger)

Tito Sotto,copied speech, plagiarized
Sen. Tito Sotto
If you are a blogger you will certainly get mad with Senator Tito Sotto, where in his interview with Karen Davila on ANC Headstart last Thursday despised the blogger who originally make a post which he steals from. The senator emphasized that he did not steal nor plagiarized during his speech.

Sen. Sotto says: “Bakit ko naman iko-quote ang blogger? Blogger lang iyon. Ang kino-quote ko si Natasha Campbell-McBride.”

Translating: Why should I quote a blogger? That's only a Blogger. I was quoting to Natasha Campbell McBride.

Let me give you some general summary on how this shame scandal started:
Sen. Tito Sotto gave his  long speech at the floor senate regarding his opposition on the RH Bill and the story how he lost his son. But he also gave a long paragraph in the speech regarding some studies and proof on how he lost his son. Later the Filipino FreeThinkers website discovered that his speech was taken from Sarah Pope (a US based blogger) author of The Healthy Home Economist. Sen. Sotto's speech was taken word by word without other alteration from Sarah's blogpost. Check out the whole speech of Sen. Tito Sotto here. And even it was clearly taken from Sarah's blog on which she posted on February 23, 2011. Our senator wasn't man enough to admit his mistakes and says sorry for his mistakes he committed, instead he gave a lame excuse that the internet is a free public domain and anyone can take from it. They even made a comment on Sarah's blog that a blog were meant to share.

The bottom line of it all:
Actually admitting the mistakes you made and just say sorry will end all of this. But instead you belittle us as a blogger. You don't even have a mind to think that it was Sarah Pope who did the effort to explain Natasha Campbell-McBride's research, it was her word and opinion about it and you conveniently copied it. You are a disgrace representation of Filipino who has lost his value and integrity just to win the sympathy of Filipinos. I just hope that many will think before voting you again.

  3. That is very belittling indeed, as there are a lot of bloggers who put so much effort in coming up with quality articles, only to be put down like that. He should have at least just given credit to the blogger/writer, instead of making it appear that he wrote his speech. Give credit where credit is due, right?
